What There Is
What I Wrote
- The Aleph anti-FAQ which really only
makes sense if you've read the FAQ of the Aleph mailing list
- The Bactra Review: of books,
magazines, and whatever else happens to strike my fancy. A conceit, in several
senses.
- Cadmus, an apologia for my feeble efforts at
putting books on-line
- On Chomsky: A ``Study in Total Depravity''
- The imaginatively titled Cosma's Home Page,
which is presumably where you just came from.
- Net secedes from the Real World (so-called)! Read the Emergency
Revolutionary Backbone Cabal Governing Junta for National Formation, Salvation
and Euphony's Decleration of Autonomy of
Cyberistan or suffer extraordinary punishment #2!
- A Few Words on Polluting Precious Bodily
Fluids, i.e. the use of drugs. (Summary: They are over-rated, over-feared
and ought to be legal, if only because the laws against them are bad and
unenforcable.)
- Is the Primordial Soup Done
Yet? Quantifying Self-Organization, Especially in Cellular Automata. Too
close to a human document for journal publication; hopefully not so close to a
journal publication that it can't explain what I'm doing. (The main title is a
dig at my adviser.)
- Jesus Cthulhu
- Notebooks: Things I find interesting,
things I try to explain, things I need to learn about, questions I'd like
answered, resources I recommend, things I ought to read. A brain-dump on the
part of a compulsively academic scribbler.
- A chain of interlinked, almost free-associated pieces of prose
tentatively titled Oblivion Her
Poppy.
- ``Sing, Ye Countinghouse
Muses,'' a term paper on musicians, commerce, aristocracy and the uses of
myths in ancient Greece. I had to persuade the professor I hadn't plagarized
it from the professional literature; and greater praise than this, I cannot
expect to receive from the Berkeley classics department. (Yes, I'm proud of
it. I have the rest of my life to learn humility.)
- The Story So Far, a
conspiracy theory, explaining who has been running the world for the last 2,500
years, and what they plan to do next. This was written with a number of
friends (who choose to remain anonymous) in the spring of 1993. It was posted
to the net --- including the alpha.centauri.* hierarchy. Some got the joke,
but an incredible number thought I was serious. One person wrote me that it
made sense of his thirty years of ``occult investigations,'' and I didn't have
the heart to respond.
- Summer School Lectures on Computational
Mechanics
- Thermodynamic
Depth of Causal States: When Paddling around in Occam's Pool, Shallowness Is a
Virtue, co-authored with Jim
Crutchfield
- Your Final Exam, on the future of the
Internet
What Others Wrote
Everything is listed in Codex HTML, which lists everything I either have put on line (with links) or plan to (without links, alas) except for the Cthulhuist songs from the net collected under the title A Cthulhu Hymnal.
